How does the EcoPlus Hot Water Heat Pump System work?
The EcoPlus Hot Water Heat Pump System heats water by transferring the heat from the surrounding air to the water, using a refrigerant. The warm gaseous refrigerant is circulated in the system via a compressor. As it passes through the compressor, its pressure rises, as does the temperature. This hot refrigerant then passes through a heat exchanger to heat the water, which is pumped to the storage tank. The heat exchanger absorbs heat from the outside air.
The system is designed to use the latest refrigeration technology. The refrigerant (CO2*) has an extremely low global warming potential (GWP**) so it allows us to keep a clean and healthy earth for future generations.
*CO2 also known as R744 refrigerant has an extremely low Global Warming Potential** and does not deplete the ozone layer.
**Global Warming Potential (GWP) is a measure of how much a given mass of greenhouse gas is estimated to contribute to global warming.
It is a relative scale which compares the gas in question to that of the same mass of carbon dioxide, whose GWP is equal to 1.

Consequently, with the EcoPlus Hot Water Heat Pump System, you can save up to 80%* of your conventional electric hot water energy costs.

The EcoPlus Hot Water Heat Pump System is supplied as two separate components;
- Sanden Heat Pump Unit and
- Rheem Stainless Steel Storage Tank
This allows easy on-site handling and installation, as well as flexibility of the storage tank location, up to 15 metres horizontally or 3 metres vertically from the Heat Pump Unit.
